Research topics (related to the Institute)

1. Investigation of molecular mechanisms of insecticide resistance in models and non-models.
2. Evo-devo, correlation of phenotypes to developmental processes.
3. • Biotechnology applications with a focus in arthropods: vectors and systems of protein expression in insect cells, baculovirus and transgenic insects, genome modification by CRISPR/Cas9.

Research summary

• Dr. Douris research interests include the analysis of molecular mechanisms underpinning insecticide resistance. Current emphasis of the Douris research team is to dissect synergistic interactions of different mechanisms within a Drosophila-engineered system devoid of confounding genetic effects.
