Department of Chemistry
Biomaterials (biologically inspired, biomimetic, biomedical, implants, drug delivery, biological tissues, biomechanics, etc.), Structural activity relationship, Hybrids (organic / inorganic). Inorganic Biochemistry- Metallomics.
The research interests include the synthesis and characterization of nano-materials of biological interest, the encapsulation of new bioactive small molecules or conjugates of drugs with metals into micelles and liposomes in order to increase their bioactivity and their use in medical devices (anti-microbial conduct lens, medical gauzes for wound healing, active antimicrobial packages for medical usage, etc) and the Structure Activity Relationship of the new materials.
