Soft matter (polymers, liquid crystals, etc.); Nanomaterials; Biomaterials.
Dr. Kalampounias’ research interests include molecular spectroscopy (vibrational spectroscopies & ultrasonic relaxation spectroscopy) and ultrasonically-induced birefringence technique to study:
(i) Structure-property relations in liquids, supercooled liquids, glasses and melts (halide, oxide, and chalcogenide glasses)
(ii) Reaction engineering, proton-transfer reactions and kinetics in solutions
(iii) Vibrational and reorientation dynamics of molecular and ionic liquids
(iv) Thermo-reversible aggregation phenomena and thermodynamic transitions in molecular liquids under confinement.
