Polymers; Sustainable materials from biomass; drug delivery systems.

Research summary

Dr. Papageorgiou’ research interests include thermal properties of materials and thermal analysis techniques (differential scanning calorimetry, fast-scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, EGA, etc) to study:
(i) Thermal transitions of polymers.
(ii) Crystallization in homopolymers and random copolymers.
(iii) Miscibility in polymer blends and drug/polymer mixtures.
(iv) Thermal degradation of polymers.
Dr. Papageorgiou also deals with renewable materials and biorefinery processes for the production of sustainable polymeric materials from renewable resources.
