Department of Chemistry
i. Basic and translational research on the pathophysiology of Atherosclerosis.
ii. Basic and translational research on Platelets and Thrombosis.
iii. Evaluation of the antiatherogenic and antithrombotic effects of synthetic molecules and molecules from natural sources.
Prof. Tselepis’ research interests include:
i. The role of platelets, modified lipoproteins, oxidative stress and inflammation in the development and progression of atherosclerotic plaque as well as its thrombotic complications.
ii. The mechanisms underlying the platelet interaction with circulating endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) as well as the involvement of platelets in the arterial wall endothelium regeneration and angiogenesis.
iii. The mechanisms underlying the effects of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in atherosclerosis and thrombosis.
